I always use my laptop, and I type on my lap ... I'm really worried?

That's what I was thinking, there called LAPtops so they should be fine on your lap. I think there is a theory that it can give you some sort of cancer, but it hasn't be proven, just put it on a table or on the floor when you are using it :)
