Flying to Canada via LA for the first time is it difficult to get from Air NZ to Air Canada to get cont flight

This is my first time out of Aust travelling by myself so would be helpful if somebody could tell me if it is difficult to get through security and get to catch an Air Canada flight after arriving on Air New Zealand
