VAT (value added tax) government income?

okay, i cannot find a figure that gives the income of the uk government in pounds that is collected in VAT each year? can anyone help? please dont give 17.5% or 15% as recently changed. im after a quoted official figure or figure worked out from an official statistic. this is because my flatmate cant get his head round the idea.
